Balsam

Bálsamo
Balsam (Racławicka 99, Warsaw) – located within a 19th century Mokotow fort, and outfitted with an array of retro lounge furniture, Balsam is a nightspot for Warsaw’s young hipsters. DJs change frequently, which means a diverse range of music offered here – from reggae to Euro-Trance and House music. A restaurant is also within the grounds, which is open during the day – attracting a bohemian dining crowd.

The Harvest (Ambassador Office Building, ul. Domaniewska 34A, Warsaw) – located in the Mokotów section of town (known as a business district, which includes some foreign embassies nearby), this upscale restaurant serves dishes such as oysters with rhubarb and ginger, Cannelloni with scallops and crab mousse, lamb with green vegetables and mint sauce, crab cannelloni both light and delicious, very good mushroom soup with chanterelles, excellent and tasty truffle risotto and very good meats – lamb with sweetbreads and tournedos Rossini. The Harvest’s interior is reminiscent of international “power lunch” restaurants, such as the Four Seasons near New York’s Park Avenue – so this is apt for such business get-togethers.

Signature (ul. Poznańska 15, Warsaw) – located within the “H51” boutique hotel, this restaurant is among Warsaw’s better-rated restaurants. Among the main dishes served there are duck breast, sea bass, veal marsala, lamb, and even deer sirloin; as well as starters like fois gras duo, scallops, and calamari. It’s interesting to hear that this used to be part of the former Soviet Union Embassy to Poland — with hammer & sickle emblem on the ceiling. Note: a 20% discount for those staying at the hotel.
Solec

Solec (ul. Solec 44, Warsaw) – this restaurant does not have a set menu. Its cuisine (consisting of both Polish and international dishes) is based on freshly prepared dishes – made from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients – which tempt the palate with the simplicity of taste. This restaurant is unique in that the owners encourage patrons to play board & puzzle games while they wait for their food – making it, in effect, a family-friendly place. On occasion, parties and food workshops are also held here.

Silk and Spicy (Żurawia 16/20, Warsaw) – this beautifully-decorated “new Asian” restaurant serves items from various countries – ranging from miso soup, to beef yakiudon, Thai curry in peanut sauce, salmon teriyaki, crispy duck, and sushi, as well as desserts like green tea ice cream. This is among the places men would take their girlfriends to.
Porto Praga

Porto Praga
Porto Praga (ul. Stefana Okrzei 23, Warsaw) – this upscale restaurant, located in the post-industrial Praga district, serves a variety of French-influenced dishes is served here – from boulibasse, to roast duck, lamb and sea bass. This, along with other items, such as chanterelle mushrooms, onion soup, and desserts like lemon sorbet.
Papaya

Papaya (ul. Foksal 16, Warsaw) – this Asian restaurant serves a variety of dishes, such as tuna tartar with an avocado crown, baked eel nigriti, Kobe beef, Peking duck, green chicken curry, and Thai soup Tom Yum Kung. Diners can opt to be seated by the restaurant’s Teppanyaki – large Japanese grill tables, where the chef can give a culinary show (similar to Benihana’s). Aside from the food, the interior itself is impressive. Very modern & minimalist, incoming guests are greeted by a large aquarium filled with live lobsters, as well as an oyster aquarium (the only one anywhere in Poland).

Opasły Tom (ul. Foksal 17, Warsaw) – located in a one-time bookstore, this small, well-lit restaurant serves a variety of locally-inspired dishes, such as duck in honey sauce, tomato salad with goat’s cheese, pumpkin soup and halva mousse. These and other dishes served there have been consistently well-rated by various visitors.
Nolita

Nolita
Nolita (ul. Wilcza 46, Warsaw) – located in downtown Warsaw, this high-end restaurant serves a variety of fine dishes, such as roe deer carpaccio with cranberries and chestnut; Tournedos Rossini (dainty pink meat, black truffles and foie gras), tuna nicoise, and white truffle risotto. This along with some fine desserts, and a decent wine list.
